Buying Guide For Air Tools

Buying air tools for first time is difficult task. But, this article makes the purchase of air tools, more rewarding and enjoyable. First thing everyone should know is there is an air tool virtually for any job. The second thing is all air tools require separate compressor. The people who are buying this for the first time, doesn’t realize this or they forget.

First thing is to know is about air compressors. When one purchases the air tool, it will also have pressure per square inch (PSI) rating. Look for the same PSI capability air compressor that is required. It should match both the connections and air hoses perfectly, if required tight fit.

There are mainly two types of air compressor. The first type is the piston type air compressor, which is powerful. This air compressor has the tank which stores the air that is compressed. Like compact air compressor, this compressor doesn’t run constantly. It runs only at certain pressure when the adjusted back air is required. This compressor has two stage models, single and double. If the air tool is used for heavy-duty, then the double stage model air compressor is required.

The second type is the compact air compressor, which is not as powerful as piston type. This compressor does not have the tank which stores the air that is compressed. While the compact air compressor runs, it gives the air that is required. The compact air compressor is very beneficial as it is small, light weight and can be easily carried everywhere. This air compressor lacks power, as it is light weight and very small. The compact air compressor is inadequate, when it is used in the power painting.

The key attributes while shopping for air compressor are as follows:

Horsepower: The air compressors compress the air as the name implies. This has an engine and the engines have horsepower. The horse power of engine is considered as the direct impact on the compressor performance.

PSI: Are pound for square inch. Typically a tool needs 90 PSI, but it depends from tool to tool.

CFM: Are cubic feet per minute. The air tools require four – six CFM for proper operation.

The common found air tool is nail gun. The nail guns are mainly in two varieties, stick and coil. The nail guns which are stick based are used normally in general and smaller jobs. This nail gun holds only couple dozens of nails. The nail guns which are coil based, has drum like container that holds the nails. This nail gun holds only few hundreds of nails.

When one is buying the air nail gun, then should definitely think about intend of use. The nail gun is built by keeping some special tasks in mind. Some tasks of the nail guns include finishing nail guns, roofing nail guns, framing nail guns, etc. The finishing nail gun is mostly used for light work and the framing nail gun is used for heavy work.

The air tools come with different loaded features and in variety of sizes, just like anything in life. As there are many brands, it depends on the individual to buy a selected brand. Some types of brands are DeWalt, Craftsman, Milwaukee, Porter-Cable first and Bostitch.
